VAMO Racing successfull race at Belgian Championship in Nismes.
Last weekend the Vamo Racing Team headed to the 3rd round of the Belgian Championship series at the Gp track of Nismes. One of the most beautifull tracks in Belgium located on a big hill with several spectacular jumps and hard pack surface. While Mike Vanderstraeten had a minor injury on his shoulder, his teammate Victor Picoto was the only Vamo rider representive at Nismes.
Training:
The track conditions on sunday morning were pretty wet while the organisation watered the track on saturday evening and it rained on saturday night. In these wet conditions, Victor went out on his V-Mac Suzuki and Michelin tyres for the best power linked with the best grip − 100% succes assured. Victor felt confident on his bike and his laptimes got better every lap. Victor ended his qualifying training on a 8th position.
First Heat:
A good start in the first heat made life much easier for Victor while he was in 6th position for most the time. He had a good pace, consistent laptimes and focused riding made him stay in 6th position. Only 3 laps from the end Victor made a small mistake that made him drop back to a 7th position. As there was too little time to fight back and move up to 6th position again. Victor finished this first heat on a 7th position and was looking ahead to the 2nd heat.
Second Heat:
Second heat start was not the start Victor had in mind. He only came through in a 12th position after the first lap. He was determined to fight back and score as much points as possible. His laptimes were very good and made him close the gap to 8th position halfway heat 2. Once settled on 8th position Victor was pushing so hard to close on 7th position. Only the unexpected happened in the last couple of turns when Victor took a wrong outside line and dropped back to 9th position.
Both Victor and Team were happy with the results achieved in Nismes while Victor has a top 5 result in the back of his mind to achieve in the next Belgian Championship race.
