Ramon edges closer to 7th Belgian title
Steve Ramon contested the penultimate round of the Belgian Motocross Championship yesterday, held on the natural terrain of Orp-Le-Grand, and now sits 31 points clear of 2nd place with one round remaining. Ramon has already accumulated 6 Belgian Motocross Titles in his successful career, and is certainly on track to make it 7 this season.
Having injured his groin last week in the Brazilian GP, Ramon’s primary aim was to have a smooth day of racing and hold a strong points lead going into the final round, and that is exactly what he achieved.
In the opening moto Ramon grabbed a decent start and circulated the mixed condition circuit in 5th position. As the race continued Ramon moved up into a solid 4th position, which he held to the finish.
Moto 2 was a slightly tougher start as the Belgian star headed around the opening lap in 11th position. As ever the tactician carved his way through the competition, ultimately crossing the finish line in 5th position, which in turn awarded him 5th overall for the day.
Ramon now prepares for the GP of Lierop in the Netherlands this coming weekend, which is followed directly by the final GP which takes place in Italy the following weekend. The final round of the Belgian Championship takes place on the 19th September in Pierreux.
